Meet Michelle Chiwendu Alozie, a Nigerian-American footballer making waves in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Born on April 28, 1997, in the United States to Nigerian parents from Imo State, Alozie is a true representation of the Nigerian diaspora achieving remarkable things.

Raised in Apple Valley, California, Michelle’s passion for soccer led her to play for Yale University’s Yale Bulldogs from 2015 to 2018.

Today, she plays for the Houston Dash and represents the Nigeria women’s national team, the Super Falcons.

But that’s not all, Michelle is also a part-time research technician at the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, fighting cancer and making a difference in her community.

In one of her Instagram videos, Michelle revealed that ‘Ocean’ by Hillsong, a renowned Christian music group, would make her top 3 playlist to get her pumped up before a game. This shows how much of a devoted Jesus lover she is, and we can’t help but admire her perfect blend of faith and athleticism. She’s a true inspiration, proving that you can be a champion on and off the field while staying true to your values.
