Professor Osundare’s academic journey took him from Nigeria to England and Canada. He earned degrees in English from the University of Ibadan, University of Leeds, and York University respectively. He taught English at the University of Ibadan and later became a professor at the University of New Orleans.

This includes the Commonwealth Poetry Prize, Cadbury Prizes, Fonlon-Nichols Award, Noma Award, and the Nigerian National Merit Award. His poetry collections, such as “Songs of the Marketplace” and “The Eye of the Earth,” have garnered critical acclaim and won prestigious prizes.
The Eye of the Earth, which won the Association of Nigerian Authors’ Poetry Prize and the Commonwealth Poetry Prize, is a notable example of his work.
