Dr. Obohwemu Kennedy, a Nigeria-born lecturer, has been honoured with the prestigious Most Inspirational Lecturer Award at the Global Banking School (GBS) Regional Awards in Birmingham, UK. GBS is a multi-award-winning higher education provider, collaborating with several UK universities to offer a wide range of vocational, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs.

Dr. Obohwemu, a Lecturer in Health and Social Care, joined GBS just six months before the award, making his achievement particularly noteworthy. His engaging teaching style and warm personality have quickly earned him the admiration and respect of his students.
Dr. Obohwemu was born on April 9, 1983 in Lagos, Nigeria where he attended Federal Housing Estate Primary School. He continued his secondary education at Government College Victoria Island where he served as the Senior Prefect. He effectively utilised this position to win laurels for the school, participating in and winning various Quiz Competitions, Essay Competitions, and Inter-School Debates.

He graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria and holds a Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Sunderland in the UK. He also obtained a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Roehampton, UK, and a postgraduate certificate in Leadership and Management in Health from the University of Washington, USA. In addition, he has certifications in Fiction Writing from The Open University and Script Writing from the University of East Anglia, both in the UK.
A much-travelled personage, Dr. Kennedy has visited virtually every medical school in the country, exchanging vision and ideas. In 2006 he was among 18 delegates that represented Nigeria in the National Convention hosted by Federation of Ghana Catholic Health Trainees, University of Ghana Medical School, Accra. He repeated that feat in 2009, leading 24 delegates to another edition of the Conference.
Dr. Obohwemu’s literary achievements are equally impressive. He is a multiple award-winning international author, public health physician, researcher, publisher, editor, novelist, playwright, poet, essayist, literary critic, entrepreneur, humanitarian, activist, motivational speaker, social commentator, blogger, and leadership coach. He is regarded as the author of Africa’s first full-length futuristic romantic suspense novel.
He has also published several thrillers, including “Every Time We Meet,” “Frozen,” “Nightfall,” and the internationally acclaimed “Twisted.” “Twisted” stands out for its complex plot, suspenseful nature, and integration of themes like romance, terrorism, and shocking revelations. The novel has received positive reviews from critics and readers alike, highlighting its unique blend of suspense, romance, and cultural elements.

In 2022, Dr. Obohwemu gained further recognition by winning the Three Minute Thesis Competition (TMT) at the University of Sunderland, competing against doctoral and postdoctoral students from different campuses of the university.
Currently, Dr. Obohwemu serves as a Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Sunderland and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in the United Kingdom. He imparts his knowledge and expertise to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of public health, as well as health and social care.
In addition to his literary and academic endeavors, Dr. Kennedy is actively engaged in charitable activities. He is a Rotarian and served as the President of the Rotary Club of Lokoja Metro, where he initiated campaigns against polio in Nigeria and executed community development projects. He is also the Founder, CEO and Board Chair of various charitable organizations, including PENKUP International, which empower young people in areas of health, education, psychology, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kennedy has received numerous awards and honors for his literary, educational, and humanitarian contributions. He continues to inspire and make a positive impact through his multifaceted talents and dedication to public health, literature, and philanthropy.
