Eleta Kingsley Oshiokha, a Nigerian-born striker, has carved a remarkable journey in football. He has progressed from being a promising youngster in Nigeria to a pacesetter figure in Bangladesh’s sporting history. In March 2021, he became the first foreign-born footballer to obtain Bangladeshi citizenship, making him eligible to wear the red and green jersey as a naturalized player. This colossal leap not only changed his personal and professional life but also reshaped Bangladesh’s football landscape.

Eleta Kingsley started his football career early when he played for Nigerian academies. He played youth football for Nigerian Ports Authority. His senior career began at Nigeria club, Gabros International FC. He also played for Dolphin FC and continued to play for Nigerian club, Akwa United FC between 2009 and 2011.

Then he left Nigeria and moved to Uzbekistan, but due to work permit issues and other complications, he was forced away from the country, ultimately heading to Bangladesh.

A Decade in Bangladesh’s Premier League

Kingsley’s relationship with Bangladesh began in 2011 when he came in via football academies, starting with Arambagh KS, where he quickly became a standout scorer. His early Bangladeshi career began with a hat-trick in the opening-match of the 2012 season. Over the years, he played for big clubs such as Team BJMC, Chittagong Abahani, Bashundhara Kings, and Dhaka Abahani. He consistently topped scoring charts in these clubs and proved to be a skillful player.

Notably, he won MVP at the 2015 Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup and was Independence Cup top scorer in 2016. In the 2021-22 season, he was again the top scorer in Bashundhara Kings’ scoresheet with with six goals.
