Jerry Fisayo-Bambi is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most dynamic media professionals. As a journalist, producer, news anchor, and show host, his work has informed and inspired audiences across the globe. From the studios of Africanews and Euronews (DSTV 417 and 414), Jerry has become a trusted voice in the continent and beyond, currently residing in Lyon, France.

He was born on December 8, 1987 in Lagos, Nigeria and his journey to international recognition is rooted in his passion for journalism and a strong ideological commitment to pan-Africanism. His love for travel, sports, and literature complements a career built on advocacy, ethics and excellence. Over the years, his work has consistently spotlighted socio-economic issues, innovation, and governance across Africa, earning him accolades and global recognition.

Jerry Fisayo-Bambi graduated from the University of Lagos in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Science Education (Mathematics) before pursuing a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication/Media Studies at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism. He later completed a Master’s degree in Media Ethics and Social Change at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. This academic path speaks to his focus on storytelling as a force for transformation.

His career began in Nigeria, where he worked with Steam and Globe Broadcasting Limited and Info Nigeria Limited, Owners of Cool FM and Nigeria Info 99.3. He later joined Group 8, the parent company of ONTV, Spice TV, and Soundcity. Jerry Fisayo-Bambi quickly made a name for himself when he covered major events like the Nigeria Economic Summit and the World Economic Forum for Africa in 2014. That same year, he conducted exclusive interviews with key figures like the chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote on the role of education in the development of the Nigerian economy. He also interviewed the former British Prime minister, Gordon Brown on Britain’s role in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria the same year. As a key speaker at the EU-African Summit 2021, he was able to interview the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders and former EU Commissioner on Agriculture, Phil Hogan.

Driven by a vision for continental impact, Jerry relocated to Pointe Noire, Republic of Congo, where he learned French and joined Africanews, the bilingual international news channel. He became one of the two lead presenters of the daily life breakfast show The Morning Call, which drew up to 6.3 million viewers across Africa. His chemistry with co-host Hannane Ferdjani, a Harvard Nieman Fellow, propelled the show’s popularity, earning both hosts features in major publications like Jeune Afrique, New African Magazine, and African Business. Their faces appeared on billboards across cities in Africa and France such as Abuja, Accra, Johannesburg, Kinshasa, Libreville, Paris, Pointe Noire, and Brazzaville.

In 2019, Jerry Fisayo-Bambi launched Inspire Africa, a television program dedicated to showcasing stories of innovation, change, and impact across the continent. As both producer and presenter, he has led powerful storytelling efforts that earned the show partnerships with significant bodies like the NBA Africa Junior League and the World Bank-led Sahel Women’s Empowerment and Demographic Dividend (SWEDD) project. Through these efforts, Jerry has highlighted the achievements of women and young people, bringing their stories to the forefront of public discourse.

In the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jerry’s reporting played a crucial role in shaping public understanding of the crisis in Africa. His journalistic excellence has not gone unnoticed. He was shortlisted for the prestigious BBC Komla Dumor Award and named the Nigeria Achievers Awards 2020 TV Personality of the Year. In 2023, he was inducted into the 2023 Forty Under 40 Wall of Continental Leaders in South Africa under the TV, Radio & Print Journalism category. Later that year, he received the ‘Excellence in Journalism’ award from the Voice Achievers Award in Almere, Netherlands.

Throughout his career, Jerry Fisayo-Bambi has exemplified what it means to use journalism as a tool for development. As he interviews world leaders, produces impactful documentaries, or mentors the next generation of media professionals, he continues to shape global perceptions of Africa with integrity, insight, and passion.
