Nigeria-born, South London-raised artist SamRecks has been steadily climbing the ranks of the music industry, one single at a time. His latest release, “Back Pack,” continues to highlight the exceptional talent of the 22-year-old musician.

Drawing inspiration from a multitude of genres and musical influences, SamRecks delivers his verses over an eclectic array of beats. “My inspiration comes from various sources,” he explains. “When I’m writing, it’s all about the first line. Once you have that, the entire story, the whole song, unfolds line by line. So, once I’ve got that first bar, I know a song is coming together.”

Growing up in a musically rich environment, SamRecks was surrounded by his mother’s collection of old school traditional Nigerian music, including Yoruba and Benin songs. As he matured, he expanded his musical palate to include alternative rap, hip hop, drill, and R&B, all of which have influenced his unique sound.

Though he might seem like a relative newcomer, SamRecks has dedicated his adolescence to honing his craft, tirelessly developing his musical talent. Over the past few years, his unwavering passion for music has evolved into the foundation of what promises to be a transformative career. “I can’t see myself doing anything else now. I need to make this something,” he asserts.

Convincing his parents, however, has been a challenge. “Initially, they didn’t understand it. They’re African parents, so they just wanted me to go to school and then go to university,” he explains. The turning point came when his mother heard one of his songs playing at her workplace. She saw it as a sign that his musical career was destined for success. “Little things like that make them realize this is what I’m gonna do. There’s no changing it,” he says.
