Among these images was a heartwarming picture of him as a young child proudly wearing a Manchester United jersey, signifying his deep-rooted connection with his new club.
Chido Obi-Martin plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United. He is a product of Arsenal’s football Academy. Having started his career in Denmark with local side KB, Obi-Martin moved to England as a child, going on to join the academy of Arsenal at the age of fourteen.
He progressed through the club’s youth ranks, establishing himself as a prolific goal-scorer and was promoted to the under-18 side at the age of fifteen. In his first start for the under-18 side, he scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 win against Southampton on 23 September 2023, earning comparisons to Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen in Danish media.
With 32 goals in 20 league games for the U18s and representing Denmark at youth international level, United may have found themselves a shrewd signing.
Interestingly, Obi-Martin made international headlines on 18 November 2023, scoring ten goals as Arsenal beat Liverpool 14-3 at under-16 level. On 27 April 2024, Obi made headlines once again, scoring seven goals for Arsenal in their 9-0 win against Norwich City, taking his tally up to 24 goals in his previous seven games for Arsenal’s under-18s. On 29 July 2024, Obi-Martin announced on his Instagram account his departure from Arsenal. This only confirms that indeed, dreams do come through.
Obi-Martin’s story is one to motivate other people out there, regardless of age. Do not be discouraged by the years of waiting. As long as you keep pushing and working towards achieving your goals, some day, your dreams will become a reality, just like Obi-Martin’s.
