Early Beginnings and Breakthrough at Manchester City

Adarabioyo’s football journey began at the age of five when he joined Manchester City’s youth academy. Spotted by the club’s head of recruitment, Terry John, Adarabioyo quickly made his mark. He was born in London, but raised in Manchester where he attended Chorlton High School and St Bede’s College, balancing education with his love for football.

At 14, he joined Manchester City’s U18 team, and within two years, he was already captaining the side, showcasing leadership qualities at a young age. His impressive performances led him to train with the first team. Adarabioyo’s senior debut came in 2016 during an FA Cup match against Chelsea. Despite his side losing 5-1, he was praised for his solid performance in handling Diego Costa, a highly regarded striker at the time.

First Team Experience and Loan Spells

Under manager Pep Guardiola, Adarabioyo gained valuable experience. He made UEFA Champions League debut in 2016 which made him the youngest player to start in the competition for Manchester City at the age of 19. However, competition for a starting position in City’s defense limited his game time.

In search of regular first-team football, Adarabioyo spent the 2018-19 season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, followed by a loan to Blackburn Rivers in the 2019-20 season. He formed a strong partnership with Joachim Andersen, and the duo played a crucial role in notable results, including a 1-0 win against reigning champions Liverpool.

While Fulham faced relegation at the end of the season, Adarabioyo’s individual performances earned him recognition. England Youth International and Nigerian Connection

His Nigerian heritage makes him eligible to represent Nigeria on the international stage; however he’s yet to play for the Nigerian team.

In July 2024, Adarabioyo signed a four-year contract with Chelsea FC, moving on a free transfer. This marked a new chapter in his career as he joined one of the Premier League’s top clubs. In his first start for Chelsea in September 2024, he formed a strong partnership with Levi Colwill, helping the team keep a clean sheet in back-to-back matches.
