A Nigerian man residing in the United Arab Emirates has taken to social media to accuse his former wife of infidelity, publicly warning other men against marrying her.
Ugwunwanne Darlington, who lives and works in the UAE, claims he left his wife, Esther Ngozi, in Owerri, Imo State, shortly after their wedding to return to his base abroad.
Upon his return, he alleged that she had been unfaithful during his absence.
According to Mr Darlington, he asked his then-wife to swear an oath denying that she had slept with another man while he was in the UAE, but she refused.
He says this refusal led him to end the marriage.
Sharing photographs of his ex-wife online, he wrote: “If you are a man looking for a lady to marry, look at this lady very well.
“She is my ex-wife, Esther Ngozi. Her Facebook name is Esther [redacted]. She is a pastor’s daughter and lives in Owerri, World Bank area.
”After our marriage, I went back to my base in the UAE. She started sleeping with other men in Owerri, and her mother supported her.
“After I sent her out, she started telling people that everything I say is a lie. I told her to come and swear that she didn’t sleep with another man while I was in the UAE, and take one million naira. Till now, she has not come.”
The post has sparked widespread criticism online, with many Nigerians questioning Mr Darlington’s own conduct.
Several commentators asked whether he could also swear that he remained faithful while abroad, while others questioned the wisdom of leaving a newlywed wife alone in Nigeria to travel overseas and then expecting her to prove her fidelity upon his return.
The incident has reignited debate on social media about trust, long-distance marriages, and the growing trend of publicising marital disputes online.
